Position Overview

We’re seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Commercial Facilities to oversee the maintenance, operations, and long-term functionality of JBNC’s commercial properties. This role ensures that all facilities remain safe, compliant, well-maintained, and capable of supporting the organization’s mission and daily operations.

The Director of Commercial Facilities leads maintenance staff, manages contractors and vendors, oversees specialized building systems, and supports construction and capital improvement projects. This position is ideal for a strong operational leader who enjoys problem-solving, team development, and creating efficient systems that improve organizational performance.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead day-to-day operations and maintenance across JBNC commercial facilities
  • Supervise maintenance staff, contractors, and vendors to ensure quality and efficiency
  • Manage preventative maintenance schedules and work order systems
  • Oversee building systems including HVAC, electrical, elevators, fire safety, and security systems
  • Ensure facilities remain compliant with building, safety, and fire codes
  • Lead planning and coordination of renovations, facility improvements, and capital projects
  • Manage departmental budgets, inventory, vendor contracts, and operational expenses
  • Analyze operational data and KPIs to improve performance and decision-making
  • Coordinate emergency response efforts including weather-related facility needs
  • Foster a collaborative, service-focused culture across the facilities team

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience required (technical or trade certification preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial facilities management or building maintenance
  • 3+ years of supervisory or leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of commercial building systems, preventative maintenance, and safety compliance
  • Experience managing budgets, vendors, and contractors
  • Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to analyze data and use systems to improve operational performance
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing large-scale facility or renovation projects
  • Familiarity with work order/ticketing systems and KPI reporting
  • Experience in nonprofit, community-based, or multi-site operations
  • Technical certifications related to facilities or maintenance operations

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Full-time, exempt position
  • Based at JBNC with regular travel (approximately 80%) to area properties
  • On-site role requiring occasional response to emergency facility situations and weather-related events
