Virtual Community Center Manager

Position Summary:

The VCC Manager is responsible for working collaboratively with neighborhood residents, partner organizations, funders, consultants, and Center staff to create, implement, and oversee the Virtual Community Center (VCC). The Virtual Community Center a continuation of the Center’s website and is a place for community members to access additional information, take courses on identified topics, and engage with Center staff. It is also a communication tool that the Center can use to promote upcoming events, offerings, and services.

The VCC Manager would oversee the content and information added to the VCC and provide communications coordination between departments that promotes identified programs, courses, or other time-sensitive information. In addition, the VCC Manager would be responsible for working with staff or consultants to adapt existing programming into a virtual format as well as engaging with community members to identify (and potentially implement) information and content missing from the VCC.  Responsibilities would also include reviewing online engagement and recommending updates/upgrades to the systems used for the VCC to increase usability and engagement. In addition to the duties outlined above, the VCC Manager would provide instruction and support for staff as they engage with the VCC technology infrastructure, including appointment scheduling and presenting instructor-led courses, and support external customers accessing the VCC. To succeed in this position, the VCC Manager must effectively communicate, engage, and build relationships with a variety of interested parties, from neighbors to partners or other Eastside stakeholders.

Essential Functions:

Website Content Updates & Maintenance: Work with the Center’s team to identify content and implement content on the website is up to date and easily accessible. Work with technology or design consultants to develop and build out the VCC website and technology infrastructure.  

Marketing/ Communication: Manage and coordinate communication across multiple departments and tools to ensure the streamlined flow of information. Responsible for creating promotional materials that utilize existing templates for internal and external publicity consistent with the community center standards.

Leadership:  Is accountable for the strategic planning, program development, and overall operational administration including coordination of on-going activities to meet the program’s established goals and objectives.

Accountabilities:  Ensure that the program goals and objectives are met and provide service delivery in a manner consistent with all funding objectives.

Continuous Improvement:  Ensure optimal utilization of resources and maintain quality while reducing cost.  Work with others to continually identify areas of improvement. Provide effective evaluation of results.  Promote the professional and personal development of staff/volunteers.  Model expected behaviors and serve in a collaborative role to community center staff.

Program Management:

  • Preserves the missions and philosophies of all assigned programs by defining, safeguarding, and strengthening the value base of the program.
  • Assist in adapting programs to be delivered in a virtual format and work with JBNC staff and consultants to identify and eliminate barriers to implementation and participation.
  • Share data and provide access to information for the benefit of residents, groups, organizations and institutions.  Compile, assemble and distribute stories about the VCC planning and implementation process.
  • Provide training to staff, partners, and neighbors in using the VCC.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • College degree preferred but not required
  • Bi-lingual fluency preferred but not required
