POSITION: Youth Program Specialist

 

John Boner Neighborhood Centers (JBNC) is seeking Youth Program Specialists who will play a vital role in supporting participants at the EDGE Afterschool Program. You’ll be an important part of providing Excellence, Discovery, and Growth through Education (EDGE).  As an EDGE Program Specialist, you’ll help provide a safe, engaging, and educational experience for participants.

This is a part-time, entry-level, out-of-school hours position.

Here’s what a day as an EDGE Youth Program Specialist might look like: 

• Working onsite at one of our five school-based afterschool programs supporting academic enrichment, social-emotional development, and positive relationship development for kindergarten through 12th grade youth

• Serving as a face for the afterschool program

• Creating opportunities for participant exploration and exposure to new skills, ideas, and activities designed to support

• Functioning as a team to support a safe, engaging, and fun environment for youth development

• Providing academic, recreational, and other enrichment activities to students by working cooperatively with the parents, staff, and administration of each school

• Interacting with youth in a professional, passionate and energetic manner

• You are a naturally energetic leader who loves working with youth. The ideal Youth Worker would be self-driven, a strong communicator, and excited to work with and lead youth participants.

• You are patient and flexible. Working with youth often requires a lot of patience and understanding. An excellent Youth Worker would work patiently to help our participants develop, grow, and have fun.

The Children & Youth Department requires the following items to be completed/obtained prior to beginning work, and instructions for completing these requirements will be sent during the onboarding process:

  • Tuberculosis (TB) Test
  • Drug Screen
  • Background Check
  • CPR & First Aid certifications
