Accountant
Overview
JBNC is hiring an Accountant to join our collaborative finance team during an exciting period of growth and improvement. This is not just a transactional role — it’s an opportunity to take ownership of core accounting functions, focus on accounts receivable and cash management, and help drive the efficiency and accuracy of our financial systems. If you enjoy balancing detail-oriented work with cross-team collaboration, this position offers a chance to grow your skills while making a meaningful impact.
A Day in the Life
As JBNC’s Accountant, your day will focus on tracking and recording receivables, assisting with accounts payable processing, monitoring cash flow, performing reconciliations, and maintaining financial metrics that guide daily decisions. You’ll help safeguard resources, such as client assistance, by ensuring compliance and accurate tracking. You’ll interact regularly with vendors, banks, and colleagues across departments, offering timely support and clear communication. Some days are steady and structured, while others bring new requests from directors, auditors, or community-facing staff — requiring flexibility and a service-minded approach. You’ll work alongside another accountant, Director of Accounting & Finance, and the CFO to improve proficiency in cross-training to ensure seamless coverage of both payables and receivables.
You Would Thrive in this Position If…
- You bring at least 5 years of accounting experience and a strong background in tax, nonprofit, or property management (HUD experience is a plus).
- You’re detail-oriented and accurate, but also collaborative and responsive.
- You enjoy solving problems and finding efficiencies in financial processes.
- You have strong technical skills, with proficiency in Excel and MIP/Abila (or the ability to learn quickly).
- You’re flexible, approachable, and comfortable supporting colleagues — from responding to vendor questions to helping program staff meet deadlines.
- You are motivated by JBNC’s mission and want to contribute to a finance team that underpins meaningful community impact.
