Maintenance Technician
POSITION: Maintenance Technician
John Boner Neighborhood Centers (JBNC) is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform high quality maintenance and repairs for JBNC’s properties. As part of the JBNC team, you’ll be an essential part of improving the community of the Near Eastside of Indianapolis – and the lives of the people in it!
This is a full-time maintenance position.
Here’s what a day as a Maintenance Technician might look like:
• Performing basic plumbing, painting, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and other maintenance work for JBNC’s properties, including multifamily, single-family housing, and commercial buildings
• PLUMBING: installing water heaters and repairing or replacing leaking faucets, toilets, and other fixtures
• BASIC ELECTRICAL: replacing light bulbs, broken switches, receptacles, ballasts, garbage disposals, etc.
• HVAC: inspecting and maintaining heating and air conditioning systems
• Transitioning vacant units for move-in ready-units by painting, cleaning carpets, drywall repair, etc. within scheduled time period
• Cleaning, performing grounds work, and setting up rooms as needed
• Adhering to a culture of respect, care and excellence

• You excel at managing projects and working within set timelines. We have many buildings with many needs. There will be times where you are balancing multiple longer term projects while also supporting immediate needs.
• You work well with a variety of people. You’ll be interacting with staff, partners and community members. You should have the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse individuals, including our community members, program partners, staff, and others.
• You can perform a variety of maintenance duties and enjoy doing so. The maintenance technician will be performing a variety of tasks that might require frequent standing, kneeling, lifting heavy objects, and climbing ladders and stairs. It will also include working outside during all kinds of weather. If you are a good fit for this role, you are willing and able to do the work!
These are things we are looking for from a Maintenance Technician:
• A GED, high school diploma or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience in maintenance with a preference for residential maintenance
• HVAC certification/license or willingness to obtain certification
• Ability to maintain records
• Knowledge of safety rules and regulations
- Currently possess a valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation.
Must possess a valid driver's license, or have the ability to obtain driver's license within 90 days of employment.
